Commissioner Camp Takes Swipe At Manning’s Appearance On MSNBC

Beaver County Commissioner Chairman Dan Camp is reacting on social media to an MSNBC appearance by fellow Republican commissioner Jack Manning on Thursday.

Manning was interviewed by NBC reporter Dasha Burns for an election segment on Meet The Press Daily with Chuck Todd. Burns traveled to Beaver County and did live shots from a secure room used to by the Bureau of Elections to count ballots on election day. County election officials supervised the news crew but did not appear on-camera.

Burns reported on the increase in mail-in ballots expected this election and about possible delays in getting the presidential election results. The county is expecting to see as many as 40,000 ballots cast by mail, a number 10 times higher than normal. Recent changes in law now allow voters to cast ballots by mail without providing a reason why they are not appearing at the polls, as was previously necessary to cast an absentee ballot.

“If you can’t start processing 40,000 mail-in ballots until after the polls close at 8 o’clock — and you may not even have them all opened by then under the current circumstances — so we’re still likely to still be opening let alone scanning them and processing them,” Manning said on the broadcast. “So it’s going to take a considerable amount of time before we may know the final outcome of the election from a Beaver County standpoint.”
